I had today off work and planned to work on the airplane all day. However, one problem with having an airplane at the airport is the constant good distractions. I started off today taking the wingtips plus a lot of excess stock of material to the hangar. Once I got there I ran into Jack Savage and we talked RV's for a while. Jack gave me a lot of good pointers for what to do to finish off the project. I invited my brother up to check out the project, and he showed up just as Jack was looking over my work. My brother wanted to see what a finished RV looked like and Jack graciously showed him his. Then Jack offered him a quick ride. My brother was a little hesitant, but quickly took him up on the offer. This is his RV grin before the ride! He had a blast. Perhaps a future RV builder? Back to work on the project I made some temp rudder linkages out of some .063" scrap to test what sized linkages I needed to make. My measurements came out to 2 15/16" for the right side, and 2 9/32" for the left side. The temp linkages worked great and I will transfer these to the steel linkages on Thursday night probably. I torqued down the propeller bolts tonight and attempted to start safety wiring them. Of course I started with the biggest pain in the *** one, and got quickly frustrated. These are a real pain to do. This one is trashed and I just got frustrated and left. No sense in making matters worse!
