It was a nice warm January day today (55 degrees!), however, the winds were quite high (18G28, right down the runway). I decided to take a quick jog around the local area. Visibility was tremendous. I have always wanted to try to get a low ground speed in my aircraft. The winds aloft were howlin' today. I went up to 10.5k (took NO time at all!) and I had a 57kts headwind. I slowed down the RV to right above stall speed and was able to get my ground speed down to 4kts! Visibility was phenomenal from 10.5. I could see Philly, DC and Baltimore with ease. I'm hoping for another windy day to try to make it to 0kts GS!
