It's been over 2 weeks since we last saw the temps above 30 degrees. Tomorrow the weather is suppose to warm up (finally!), but before it did I wanted to investigate how frozen the Chesapeake Bay was. I went on a quick hour long flight over the northern eastern shore.

Fairlee Creek is int he foreground. It has a small, deep channel which you can clearly make out in the picture. It didn't freeze due to the tidal currents. Baltimore is in the background. The line of white on the near shore is the northern bay shipping channel.

Still pond.

Northern Bay

North-most point of the bay. Looks like pretty solid ice down there!

The down jacket came in handy today! It was actually quite pleasant up today due to a slight temperature inversion. It was 17 degrees on the ground, and 24 degrees at 5,500'.
