My buddy Mike and I have been trying to align our schedules to go for a flight for some time now. Today our schedules worked out...but the winds were forecasted to be high (15G25). The area winds seemed to be a little less than forecasted, so we decided to go for it! Our original destination was KTHV (York, PA). However, when we got there, we discovered the restaurant was closed (12/28 was their last day open). Bummer...time for the next place. KMQS (Chester County, PA) was about 20 RV minutes away so we shot over there.

The winds were stronger at MQS - basically 20G25 down the runway. It was quite interesting trying to get out of the airplane with it parked perpendicular to the wind. The takeoff roll was almost non-existent though - 250' and we were airborne!

Beautifully clear day out there. Going back we had a headwind, so we stayed low. As gusty as the surface winds were, the turbulence at altitude wasn't all that bad.

Needless to say, this picture summed up the day! After we got on the ground, we decided to keep the fun going. We lit off a hundred rounds of ammo in the range in my backyard and then finished off the afternoon with a refreshing beer. Awesome day!
