Tonight I worked on perfecting the fit between the cowlign and the firewall. It wasn't that hard, just very iterative. It reminded me a lot of working on the canopy - fit, mark, trim, repeat. In the end I got it pretty friggin' good. I think I am within 1/64" on the top and 1/32 on the sides. I will wait until the bottom cowl is fitted too and then determine if I need to put any filler in. From what a local RV builder told me, a Flox mix works wonders for extending the cowl a short amount. Here is another shot. Lookin' good. The tie down was really necessary to keep the cowl tight against the hinge.
