Without exaggeration 2025 has been my worst year of flying so far since I completed the RV. Between weather and work, it's been just terrible to make it out to the hangar to get flying. This is only my third flight of the year. While fueling up, my aux battery nearly died causing my ARHS to freak out a little and not stabilize on the GRT EFIS. Notice the G5's are SOLID! Can you imagine? This is on the ground, not flying! I have to admit flying for 20 minutes to warm up the oil was very difficult looking at the EFIT which was very angry. uAvionix requires an upgrade to an external pressure sensing source as "sniffing" the transponder altitude was no longer deemed sufficient by the FAA. For a while uAvionix wax giving away the EchoALT's for free to people with the EchoUAT's. So I muscled the EchoUAT out of it's mounted position only to grab the Serial Number to realize the offer was over. Hey, it's only $200 for the echoALT - not as good as free - not as bad as what Garmin would charge! I grabbed a pic of the GRT Serial Combiner while I had things apart. As part of the annual I pulled the oil screen and found one ferrous chunk of metal. The more I zoomed in the worse it looked! See what I mean! I noticed a slight leak coming from the prop governor. The fitting is either a 07-00781/6V50X-S or a 74070. The replacement o-Ring P/N: 07-24457 (MS29512-06) Smashed! Borescope time! #1 Exhaust #1 intake #3 intake #3 exhause #2 exhaust #4 exhaust #4 intake. All look good! Compression for #2 and #4 were 80/80, #1 and #3 were in the low 70's. I'll take it for a 15 year old engine closing in on 1,000 hours of FUN!
