It was time for an oil change after my trip to Oshkosh and back. My RV-8 builder buddy Peter didn't hesitate at all when I asked if he wanted some stick time helping me warm up the oil.

I had been using the Saf-Air Oil Drain Valve since the first oil change. It's been working just fine, but I really liked what the current RV builders had found - the Fumoto T202N drain valve. What I like about this is it is a ball valve (The Saf-Air used a spring and rubber o-rings), and it has a very positive detent to prevent any rotation in flight.

The new drain valve did not have any holes for safety wire, so I added three of them to give me options. Since this is a NPT fitting, the threads would not screw in tight enough to the oil pan to be flush, so it would be the perfect place to attach safety wire to.

And here is the finished product. To drain the oil I have to pull forward on the valve, and then rotate down. I also checked my oil screen today and didn't find anything of significance in it other than one small flake of steel.
