Recently I purchased some Tripod mount gopro bases. I wanted to play around with some new places to mount the camera. The most logical first place would be under the wing, using the tie down threaded socket. The tie-down ring is 3/8"-16, and the GoPro tripod mount is 1/4"-28. The easiest and cheapest way I knew to make an adapter would be to buy a 3/8" hex socket, drill the center of it, tap it, and then thread a 1/4" rod into it. Here's the first part.

Next I threaded the 1/4" rod into the tripod mount. I used red loctite to hold it all together. It's quite solid!

I used a nylon spacer and a 3/8" nut to hold the mount in place. The mount seemed to work pretty good on its first flight. None of the footage was all that exciting, but it's quite acceptable.

It was just a perfect evening to fly. Recently Hurricane Arthur passed by us, leaving us with a perfect weekend in its wake. Low temps, no clouds, no humidity. A perfect 4th of July weekend.

The sunset was just great tonight.

I've always wanted to watch fireworks from the RV at night. There were a few 5th of July firework shows in the area. I waited until duck and blasted off hunting one show after the next. It was a perfect evening to fly - not a soul was out there. I found a great show in Stewartstown, PA which I circled for about 20 minutes. None of the pictures turned out, but it was awesome. Best way to watch a fireworks show!
